He Kī Taurangi a te Kīngi ki a Ihowā

He hīmene nā Rāwiri.

1 Ka waiatatia e ahau te mahi tohu me te whakawā tika;

ka hīmene atu ahau ki a koe, e Ihowā.

2 Ka āta whakahaere ahau i ahau i runga i te ara tika.

Āhea koe haere mai ai ki ahau?

Ka hāereere ahau i roto i tōku whare

i runga i te ngākau tapatahi.

3 E kore te mea tūtūā e waiho e ahau

i mua i ōku kanohi.

E kino ana ahau ki te mahi a te hunga peka kē;

e kore e piri ki ahau.

4 Ka mawehe atu i ahau te ngākau parori kē;

e kore ahau e mōhio ki te mea kino.

5 Ko te tangata e ngautuarā puku ana ki tōna hoa

ka whakangaromia e ahau.

E kore ahau e aro ki te tangata kanohi whakakake,

ki te tangata ngākau whakapakari.

6 Kei runga i ngā mea pono o te whenua ōku kanohi,

kia noho ai rātou ki ahau;

ko te tangata e haere ana i te ara tika,

ka mahi tēnā ki ahau.

7 E kore e noho ki tōku whare

te kaimahi i te hīanga;

e kore e tū ki tōku aroaro

te tangata kōrero teka.

8 I tēnei ata, i tēnei ata, ka whakangaromia e ahau

ngā tāngata kikino katoa o te whenua;

kia hātepea atu ai i te pā o te Atua

te hunga katoa e mahi ana i te kino.

A Psalm of David.

1 I will sing of lovingkindness and justice:

Unto thee, O Jehovah, will I sing praises.

2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way:

Oh when wilt thou come unto me?

I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

3 I will set no base thing before mine eyes:

I hate the work of them that turn aside;

It shall not cleave unto me.

4 A perverse heart shall depart from me:

I will know no evil thing.

5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbor, him will I destroy:

Him that hath a high look and a proud heart will I not suffer.

6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me:

He that walketh in a perfect way, he shall minister unto me.

7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house:

He that speaketh falsehood shall not be established before mine eyes.

8 Morning by morning will I destroy all the wicked of the land;

To cut off all the workers of iniquity from the city of Jehovah.
