Salmos 59

He Īnoi mō te Whakangungu

1 Whakaorangia ahau, e tōku Atua, i ōku hoariri;

kia ora ahau i te hunga toto.

3 Kei te whanga nei hoki rātou mō tōku wairua;

kāhore nei ōku tutū, kāhore ōku hara, e Ihowā.

4 Hore ōku kino, oma ana rātou, kei te takatū;

e ara hei āwhina mōku, titiro mai hoki.

5 Āe rā, maranga, e Ihowā, e te Atua o ngā mano, e te Atua o Īharaira,

tirohia iho ngā tauiwi katoa:

kaua e tohungia tētahi o te hunga kino, e poka kē nei. Hera

6 Ka hoki mai rātou i te ahiahi, kei te tau,

ānō he kurī, taiāwhiotia ana e rātou te pā.

7 Nanā, kei te kūpā ō rātou māngai,

he hoari kei ō rātou ngutu;

ki tā rātou, "Ko wai e rongo?"

8 Ko tāu ia, e Ihowā, he kata ki a rātou;

hei tāwainga māu ngā tauiwi katoa.

9 E tōku kaha, ka tatari ahau ki a koe;

ko te Atua hoki tōku pā.

10 Kei mua i ahau tōku Atua aroha;

mā te Atua ahau ka kite i tāku i hiahia ai ki ōku hoariri.

11 Kaua rātou e whakamatea, kei wareware tōku iwi;

kia whakamararatia rātou e tōu kaha; whakatakā iho rātou,

e te Ariki, e tō mātou whakangungu rākau.

12 Mō te hara o tō rātou māngai,

mō ngā kupu a ō rātou ngutu,

hopukia rātou i runga i tō rātou whakakake,

mō tā rātou kōrero, he kanga, he teka.

13 Whakamōtītia i runga i te riri,

kia kāhore ai rātou;

ā, kia mātau rātou ko te Atua te Kāwana o Hākopa

14 I te ahiahi tukua rātou kia hoki,

tukua rātou kia tau, ānō he kurī,

kia taiāwhio rātou i te pā.

16 Ko ahau ia, ka waiatatia e ahau tōu kaha;

āe, i te ata ka hāmamatia e ahau tāu mahi tohu.

Ko koe hoki tōku pā,

tōku piringa i te rā o tōku pōuri.

17 Ka hīmene ahau ki a koe, e tōku kaha;

ko te Atua nei hoki tōku pā,

tōku Atua aroha.

1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God:

Set me on high from them that rise up against me.

2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity,

4 They run and prepare themselves without my fault:

Awake thou to help me, and behold.

5 Even thou, O Jehovah God of hosts, the God of Israel,

Arise to visit all the nations:

Be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. [Selah

6 They return at evening, they howl like a dog,

And go round about the city.

7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth;

Swords are in their lips:

For who, say they, doth hear?

8 But thou, O Jehovah, wilt laugh at them;

Thou wilt have all the nations in derision.

9 Because of his strength I will give heed unto thee;

For God is my high tower.

10 My God with his lovingkindness will meet me:

God will let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

11 Slay them not, lest my people forget:

Scatter them by thy power, and bring them down,

O Lord our shield.

12 For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips,

Let them even be taken in their pride,

And for cursing and lying which they speak.

13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, so that they shall be no more:

And let them know that God ruleth in Jacob,

Unto the ends of the earth. [Selah

14 And at evening let them return, let them howl like a dog,

And go round about the city.

15 They shall wander up and down for food,

And tarry all night if they be not satisfied.

16 But I will sing of thy strength;

Yea, I will sing aloud of thy lovingkindness in the morning:

For thou hast been my high tower,

And a refuge in the day of my distress.

17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing praises:

For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.
