He Waiata Whakawhetai ki te Kaiwhakaora o Īharaira

1 Whakawhetai ki a Ihowā, he pai hoki ia;

he pūmau tonu hoki tāna mahi tohu!

2 Kia mea a Īharaira,

"He pūmau tonu tāna mahi tohu."

3 Kia mea te whare o Ārona,

"He pūmau tonu tāna mahi tohu."

4 Kia mea te hunga e wehi ana i a Ihowā,

"He pūmau tonu tāna mahi tohu."

5 I karanga ahau ki a Ihowā i roto i te pōuri;

i whakahoki kupu mai a Ihowā ki ahau,

i whakatū hoki i ahau ki te wāhi whānui.

6 Kei ahau a Ihowā; e kore ahau e wehi.

He aha tā te tangata e mea ai ki ahau?

7 Kei ahau a Ihowā kei roto i ōku kaiāwhina;

nō reira tērā ahau e kite i tāku i hiahia ai

ki te hunga e kino ana ki ahau.

8 Ko te whakawhirinaki ki a Ihowā,

pai atu i te whakaaro ki te tangata.

9 Ko te whakawhirinaki ki a Ihowā,

pai atu i te okioki ki ngā rangatira.

10 I karapotia ahau e ngā iwi katoa;

ka ngaro rātou i ahau i runga i te ingoa o Ihowā!

11 I karapotia ahau e rātou, āe, i karapotia ahau e rātou;

ka ngaro rātou i ahau i runga i te ingoa o Ihowā!

12 Me te mea he pī rātou e mui ana ki ahau;

kua pirau rātou ānō he ahi tātarāmoa;

i ngaro hoki rātou i ahau i runga i te ingoa o Ihowā!

13 Kaha pū tāu turaki i ahau, kia hinga ai ahau,

nā Ihowā ia ahau i āwhina mai.

14 Ko Ihowā tōku kaha, tāku hīmene;

ko ia anō tōku whakaoranga.

15 He reo hari, he reo whakaoranga,

kei ngā tapenākara o te hunga tika;

"He māia ngā mahi a te ringa matau o Ihowā.

16 Kua whakanuia te matau o Ihowā;

he māia ngā mahi a te ringa matau o Ihowā."

17 E kore ahau e mate, engari tērā ahau e ora,

hei whakapuaki i ngā mahi a Ihowā.

18 I pākia rawatia ahau e Ihowā,

otiia, kīhai ahau i tukua e ia kia mate.

19 Whakatuwheratia ki ahau ngā kūwaha o te tika,

ka tomo ahau ki roto,

ka whakamoemiti ki a Ihowā.

20 Ko te kūwaha tēnei o Ihowā;

ka tomo te hunga tika ki reira.

21 Ka whakamoemiti ahau ki a koe,

mōu i whakahoki kupu mai ki ahau,

kua meinga hoki ko koe hei whakaora mōku.

22 Ko te kōhatu i kapea e ngā kaihanga,

kua meinga hei upoko mō te kokonga.

23 Nā Ihowā tēnei;

he mea mīharo ki ō tātou kanohi.

24 Ko te rā tēnei i hangā e Ihowā

kia whakamanamana, kia koa tātou i reira.

25 Whakaorangia rā āianei, e Ihowā!

Tēnā rā, e Ihowā, hōmai he ngahuru ki a mātou.

26 Kia whakapaingia te tangata e haere mai ana i runga i te ingoa o Ihowā.

Kua whakapaingia koutou e mātou i roto i te whare o Ihowā.

27 Ko Ihowā te Atua,

ā, nāna i hōmai te mārama ki a tātou.

Herea te patunga tapu ki ngā aho,

ki ngā haona rā anō o te āta.

28 Ko koe tōku Atua, māku koe e whakamoemiti;

tōku Atua, māku koe e whakanui.

29 Whakawhetai ki a Ihowā; he pai hoki ia,

he pūmau tonu tāna mahi tohu.

1 Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good;

For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

2 Let Israel now say,

That his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

3 Let the house of Aaron now say,

That his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

4 Let them now that fear Jehovah say,

That his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

5 Out of my distress I called upon Jehovah:

Jehovah answered me and set me in a large place.

6 Jehovah is on my side; I will not fear:

What can man do unto me?

7 Jehovah is on my side among them that help me:

Therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.

8 It is better to take refuge in Jehovah

Than to put confidence in man.

9 It is better to take refuge in Jehovah

Than to put confidence in princes.

10 All nations compassed me about:

In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.

11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about:

In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.

12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns:

In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.

13 Thou didst thrust sore at me that I might fall;

But Jehovah helped me.

14 Jehovah is my strength and song;

And he is become my salvation.

15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous:

The right hand of Jehovah doeth valiantly.

16 The right hand of Jehovah is exalted:

The right hand of Jehovah doeth valiantly.

17 I shall not die, but live,

And declare the works of Jehovah.

18 Jehovah hath chastened me sore;

But he hath not given me over unto death.

19 Open to me the gates of righteousness:

I will enter into them, I will give thanks unto Jehovah.

20 This is the gate of Jehovah;

The righteous shall enter into it.

21 I will give thanks unto thee; for thou hast answered me,

And art become my salvation.

22 The stone which the builders rejected

Is become the head of the corner.

23 This is Jehovah’s doing;

It is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day which Jehovah hath made;

We will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, we beseech thee, O Jehovah:

O Jehovah, we beseech thee, send now prosperity.

26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of Jehovah:

We have blessed you out of the house of Jehovah.

27 Jehovah is God, and he hath given us light:

Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

28 Thou art my God, and I will give thanks unto thee:

Thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

29 Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good;

For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.
