He Īnoi mō te Murunga

Ki te tino kaiwhakatangi. He hīmene nā Rāwiri, i te taenga o Nātana poropiti ki a ia, mō tōna haerenga ki a Patehēpa.

1 Tohungia ahau, e te Atua,

kia rite ki tōu atawhai;

kia rite ki tōu aroha nui

te murunga o ōku hē.

2 Horoia rawatia tōku kino;

kia mā hoki tōku hara.

3 E whāki ana hoki ahau i āku mahi tutū;

kei tōku aroaro tonu tōku hara.

4 He hara ki a koe, ki a koe anake, tōku;

i meatia anō tēnei hē ki tōu aroaro;

kia tika ai koe i tāu kōrerotanga,

kia mā ai hoki ina whakawā.

5 Nā, i whakaahuatia ahau i roto i te kino,

i runga anō i te hara tōku whakahapūtanga ki roto ki tōku whaea.

6 Nā, ko tāu e matenui ai ko te pono i ngā wāhi o roto,

ā, ka whakaakona ōku wāhi ngaro e koe ki te whakaaro nui.

7 Purea ahau ki te hihopa, ā, ka mā ahau;

horoia ahau, ā, ka mā kē atu i te hukarere.

8 Meinga kia rongo ahau i te hari, i te koa,

ā, ka whakamanamana ngā iwi i whatia nei e koe.

9 Hunā tōu mata ki ōku hara;

ā, murua katoatia ōku kino.

10 Hangā, e te Atua, he ngākau mā ki roto ki ahau;

whakahoutia hoki ki roto ki ahau he wairua tika.

11 Kaua ahau e makā i tōu aroaro;

kaua hoki tōu Wairua Tapu e tangohia i ahau.

12 Whakahokia mai ki ahau te hari o tāu whakaoranga;

tautokona hoki ahau ki te wairua kakama.

ā, ka tahuri te hunga hara ki a koe.

14 Whakaorangia ahau i te hara toto, e te Atua,

e te Atua o tōku whakaoranga,

ā, ka waiatatia āu mahi tika e tōku arero.

15 Whakatuwheratia ōku ngutu, e te Ariki;

ā, ka puaki i tōku māngai te whakamoemiti ki a koe.

16 Kāhore nei hoki koe e aro ki te patunga tapu, pēnei kua hoatu e ahau.

Kāhore koe e āhuareka ki te tahunga tinana.

17 Ko ngā patunga tapu mā te Atua he wairua marū;

e kore koe e whakahāwea e te Atua,

ki te ngākau marū, ki te ngākau iro.

18 Kia pai koe ki te atawhai i Hiona;

hangā ngā taiepa o Hiruhārama.

19 Ko reira koe pai ai ki ngā patunga tapu o te tika,

ki ngā tahunga tinana, he mea whakaeke katoa;

ko reira rātou whakaeke ai i ngā pūru ki runga ki tōu āta.

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:

According to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity,

And cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I know my transgressions;

And my sin is ever before me.

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned,

And done that which is evil in thy sight;

That thou mayest be justified when thou speakest,

And be clear when thou judgest.

5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity;

And in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts;

And in the hidden part thou wilt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean:

Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness,

That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins,

And blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God;

And renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence;

And take not thy holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;

And uphold me with a willing spirit.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways;

And sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation;

And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 O Lord, open thou my lips;

And my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

16 For thou delightest not in sacrifice; else would I give it:

Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:

A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion:

Build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then wilt thou delight in the sacrifices of righteousness,

In burnt-offering and whole burnt-offering:

Then will they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
