He Īnoi Whakawhetai

Nā Rāwiri.

1 Ka whakapaua tōku ngākau ki te whakawhetai ki a koe;

ka hīmene atu ahau ki a koe i te aroaro o ngā atua.

2 Ka koropiko atu ahau ki te ritenga o tōu temepara tapu,

ā, ka whakamoemiti ki tōu ingoa,

mō tōu aroha me tōu pono;

kua whakanuia hoki e koe

tāu kupu ki runga ake i tōu ingoa katoa.

3 I whakahoki kupu mai koe ki ahau i te rā i karanga ai ahau,

ā, whakahirihiritia ana e koe tōku wairua ki te kaha.

4 Ka whakamoemiti ngā kīngi katoa o te whenua ki a koe, e Ihowā,

kua rongo hoki rātou ki ngā kupu a tōu māngai.

5 Āe, e waiata rātou mō ngā ara o Ihowā;

he nui hoki te korōria o Ihowā.

6 Ahakoa hoki kei runga rawa a Ihowā, e titiro iho ana anō ia ki te hunga pāpaku;

tēnā ko te tangata whakakake, i tawhiti anō kua mātauria e ia.

7 Ahakoa haere ahau i waenganui o te hē,

māu ahau e whakahauora;

ka totoro tōu ringa ki te riri o ōku hoa whawhai,

mā tōu ringa matau anō ahau e whakaora.

8 Mā Ihowā e whakaoti āku mea;

e Ihowā, e mau ana tāu mahi tohu ake ake.

Kaua e whakarērea ngā mahi a ōu ringa.

A Psalm of David.

1 I will give thee thanks with my whole heart:

Before the gods will I sing praises unto thee.

2 I will worship toward thy holy temple,

And give thanks unto thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth:

For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

3 In the day that I called thou answeredst me,

Thou didst encourage me with strength in my soul.

4 All the kings of the earth shall give thee thanks, O Jehovah,

For they have heard the words of thy mouth.

5 Yea, they shall sing of the ways of Jehovah;

For great is the glory of Jehovah.

6 For though Jehovah is high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly;

But the haughty he knoweth from afar.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me;

Thou wilt stretch forth thy hand against the wrath of mine enemies,

And thy right hand will save me.

8 Jehovah will perfect that which concerneth me:

Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, endureth for ever;

Forsake not the works of thine own hands.
