He Īnoi mō te Whakangungu mai i ngā Hoariri

Ki te tino kaiwhakatangi. He hīmene nā Rāwiri.

1 Whakarongo ki tōku reo, e te Atua, ina īnoi atu ahau;

tiakina tōku ora i te wehi o te hoariri.

2 Hunā ahau i te whakaaro ngaro o te hunga kino,

i te ngangau a ngā kaimahi i te hē.

3 Kua whakakoi nei i ō rātou arero,

ānō he hoari,

kua whakatika nei i ā rātou pere,

arā i ngā kupu kikino.

4 Hei kōperenga pukutanga mā rātou ki te tangata tika;

kitea rawatia ake kua kōpere ki a ia, kāhore hoki he wehi.

5 E whakamāia ana rātou i a rātou anō ki te mea kino;

e rūnanga ana kia whakatakotoria pukutia he rore,

e mea ana, "Ko wai e kite i a rātou?"

6 E rapu hara ana rātou; e mea ana,

"Kua āta rapu mārie tātou."

Taea noatia te hōhonutanga o te whakaaro o ia tangata,

ā, ko te ngākau he hōhonu.

7 Mā te Atua ia e kōpere he pere ki a rātou

9 Ka wehi anō hoki ngā tāngata katoa,

ka whakapuaki i te mahi a te Atua;

ka āta maharatia hoki e rātou tāna mahi.

10 Ka koa te tangata tika ki a Ihowā,

ka whakawhirinaki hoki ki a ia;

ka whakamanamana anō te hunga ngākau tika katoa.

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint:

Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

2 Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers,

From the tumult of the workers of iniquity;

3 Who have whet their tongue like a sword,

And have aimed their arrows, even bitter words,

4 That they may shoot in secret places at the perfect:

Suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

5 They encourage themselves in an evil purpose;

They commune of laying snares privily;

They say, Who will see them?

6 They search out iniquities;

We have accomplished, say they, a diligent search:

And the inward thought and the heart of every one is deep.

7 But God will shoot at them;

With an arrow suddenly shall they be wounded.

8 So they shall be made to stumble, their own tongue being against them:

All that see them shall wag the head.

9 And all men shall fear;

And they shall declare the work of God,

And shall wisely consider of his doing.

10 The righteous shall be glad in Jehovah, and shall take refuge in him;

And all the upright in heart shall glory.
