Te Īnoi a tētahi e Noho Manene ana

1 E te Atua, whakaritea tāku whakawā,

whakatikaia āku kōrero ki te iwi atuakore;

whakaorangia ahau

i te tangata tinihanga e mahi nei i te hē.

2 Ko koe hoki te Atua o tōku kaha;

he aha ahau ka pangā nei e koe?

He aha ahau ka haere pōuri ai

i te tūkino a te hoariri?

3 Tukua mai tōu mārama me tōu pono

hei ārahi i ahau;

hei kawe i ahau ki tōu maunga tapu,

ki ōu tapenākara.

4 Ā, ka haere ahau ki te āta a te Atua,

ki te Atua, ki tōku hari nui;

āe, ka whakamoemiti ki a koe,

e te Atua, e tōku Atua, i runga i te hāpa.

5 He aha koe i piko ai, e tōku wairua?

He aha koe i ohorere ai i roto i ahau?

Tūmanako ki te Atua;

tērā anō ahau e whakawhetai ki a ia,

ko te ora nei ia o tōku mata, ko tōku Atua.

1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation:

Oh deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

2 For thou art the God of my strength; why hast thou cast me off?

Why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

3 Oh send out thy light and thy truth; let them lead me:

Let them bring me unto thy holy hill,

And to thy tabernacles.

4 Then will I go unto the altar of God,

Unto God my exceeding joy;

And upon the harp will I praise thee, O God, my God.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul?

And why art thou disquieted within me?

Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him,

Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.
