He Whākinga i ngā Hara o Īharaira

1 Whakamoemititia a Ihowā!

Whakawhetai ki a Ihowā; he pai hoki ia;

he pūmau tonu hoki tāna mahi tohu.

2 Mā wai e kōrero ngā mahi nunui a Ihowā;

e whakakite katoa ngā whakamoemiti ki a ia?

3 Ka hari te hunga e mau ana ki te whakarite tika;

me te kaimahi i te tika i ngā wā katoa.

4 Maharatia mai ahau, e Ihowā, kia rite ki tāu manako ki tāu iwi;

tirotirohia mai ahau i runga i tāu whakaoranga;

5 kia kite ai ahau i te pai o āu i whiriwhiri ai,

kia koa ai, koa tahi me tāu iwi,

kia whakamanamana tahi ai me tōu kāinga tupu.

6 Kua hara tahi mātou me ō mātou mātua,

kua mahi mātou i te kino, i te mea hē.

7 Kīhai ō mātou mātua i mōhio

ki āu mea whakamīharo i Īhipa,

kīhai hoki i mahara ki te tini o āu arohatanga;

engari ia i whakatoi rātou ki a koe i te moana, āe, i te Moana Whero.

8 Otirā, whakaorangia ana rātou e ia,

12 Nā, whakapono ana rātou ki āna kupu;

ā, waiata ana i te whakamoemiti ki a ia.

13 Hohoro tonu tō rātou wareware ki āna mahi;

kīhai i tāria e rātou tōna whakaaro.

14 Engari, i whakaputa nui i ō rātou hiahia i te tahora,

whakamātautau ana rātou i te Atua i te koraha.

15 Nā, ka hoatu e ia tā rātou i īnoi ai,

otirā, i tukua atu e ia te hīroki ki tō rātou wairua.

16 I hae hoki rātou ki a Mohi i te puni,

ki a Ārona anō, ki te tangata tapu a Ihowā.

17 Ko te hāmamatanga o te whenua, nā, horomia ana a Ratana;

ā, taupokina iho te rōpū o Āpirama.

18 Ā, mura ana te ahi i tō rātou rōpū;

wera ana i te mura te hunga kino.

te tū ki tōna aroaro i te takiwā,

hei papare ake i tōna riri, kei hunā rātou e ia.

24 Āe rā, i whakahāwea rātou ki te whenua āhuareka;

kīhai rātou i whakapono ki tāna kupu.

25 Heoi, amuamu ana i roto i ō rātou tēneti,

kīhai i whakarongo ki te reo o Ihowā.

26 Nā reira ka ara tōna ringa ki a rātou,

ki te turaki i a rātou i te koraha;

27 ki te turaki i ō rātou uri i roto i ngā iwi,

ki te whakamarara i a rātou ki ngā whenua.

28 I whakauru atu hoki rātou ki a Paara-Peoro,

ā, kai ana i ngā patunga tapu mā ngā mea mate.

29 Koia i whakapātaritari ai rātou i a ia ki ā rātou hanga kia riri,

ā, pakaru ana mai te mate urutā ki a rātou.

30 Nā, ko te whakatikanga ake o Pinehaha, ki te whakaputa whakawā;

ā, mutu iho te mate.

31 I kīia ai ia he tika

32 I whakapātaritari anō rātou i a ia ki ngā wai o Meripa;

38 i whakahekea hoki te toto harakore,

ngā toto o ā rātou tama, o ā rātou tamāhine,

i patua nei e rātou mā ngā whakapakoko o Kanaana;

ā, poke iho te whenua i te toto.

39 Nā, poke iho rātou i ā rātou mahi,

ā, pūremu ana ki ā rātou mahi.

40 Koia i mura ai te riri o Ihowā ki tāna iwi,

ā, whakarihariha ana ia ki tōna kāinga tupu;

41 ā, tukua ana rātou e ia ki te ringa o ngā tauiwi;

waiho ana te hunga i kino ki a rātou hei rangatira mō rātou.

42 Nā, ka tūkinotia rātou e ō rātou hoariri;

ka pēhia ki raro i ō rātou ringa.

43 He maha āna whakaoranga i a rātou,

ko rātou ia i whakatoi ki a ia i ō rātou whakaaro,

ā, whakaititia ana i tā rātou kino.

44 Ahakoa rā, i titiro ia ki tō rātou matenga,

i tōna rongonga i tā rātou tangi.

45 I mahara hoki ia ki tāna kawenata ki a rātou,

ā, rite tonu ki te tini o āna mahi aroha te putanga kētanga o ōna whakaaro.

46 I meinga hoki rātou e ia kia arohaina

e te hunga katoa i whakaraua atu ai rātou.

47 Whakaorangia mātou, e Ihowā, e tō mātou Atua,

kohikohia mātou i roto i ngā tauiwi,

kia whakawhetai ai ki tōu ingoa tapu,

kia whakamanamana ai ki tōu whakamoemiti.

48 Kia whakapaingia a Ihowā, te Atua o Īharaira,

i tua whakarere anō, ā ake ake.

Ā, kia mea katoa te iwi, "Āmine."

Whakamoemititia a Ihowā!

1 Praise ye Jehovah.

Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good;

For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

2 Who can utter the mighty acts of Jehovah,

Or show forth all his praise?

3 Blessed are they that keep justice,

And he that doeth righteousness at all times.

4 Remember me, O Jehovah, with the favor that thou bearest unto thy people;

Oh visit me with thy salvation,

5 That I may see the prosperity of thy chosen,

That I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation,

That I may glory with thine inheritance.

6 We have sinned with our fathers,

We have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt;

They remembered not the multitude of thy lovingkindnesses,

But were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.

8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake,

That he might make his mighty power to be known.

9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up:

So he led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.

10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them,

And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 And the waters covered their adversaries;

There was not one of them left.

12 Then believed they his words;

They sang his praise.

13 They soon forgat his works;

They waited not for his counsel,

14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,

And tempted God in the desert.

15 And he gave them their request,

But sent leanness into their soul.

16 They envied Moses also in the camp,

And Aaron the saint of Jehovah.

17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,

And covered the company of Abiram.

18 And a fire was kindled in their company;

The flame burned up the wicked.

19 They made a calf in Horeb,

And worshipped a molten image.

20 Thus they changed their glory

For the likeness of an ox that eateth grass.

21 They forgat God their Saviour,

Who had done great things in Egypt,

22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham,

And terrible things by the Red Sea.

23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them,

Had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach,

To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land,

They believed not his word,

25 But murmured in their tents,

And hearkened not unto the voice of Jehovah.

26 Therefore he sware unto them,

That he would overthrow them in the wilderness,

27 And that he would overthrow their seed among the nations,

And scatter them in the lands.

28 They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor,

And ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their doings;

And the plague brake in upon them.

30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment;

And so the plague was stayed.

31 And that was reckoned unto him for righteousness,

Unto all generations for evermore.

32 They angered him also at the waters of Meribah,

So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes;

33 Because they were rebellious against his spirit,

And he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

34 They did not destroy the peoples,

As Jehovah commanded them,

35 But mingled themselves with the nations,

And learned their works,

36 And served their idols,

Which became a snare unto them.

37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto demons,

38 And shed innocent blood,

Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters,

Whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan;

And the land was polluted with blood.

39 Thus were they defiled with their works,

And played the harlot in their doings.

40 Therefore was the wrath of Jehovah kindled against his people,

And he abhorred his inheritance.

41 And he gave them into the hand of the nations;

And they that hated them ruled over them.

42 Their enemies also oppressed them,

And they were brought into subjection under their hand.

43 Many times did he deliver them;

But they were rebellious in their counsel,

And were brought low in their iniquity.

44 Nevertheless he regarded their distress,

When he heard their cry:

45 And he remembered for them his covenant,

And repented according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

46 He made them also to be pitied

Of all those that carried them captive.

47 Save us, O Jehovah our God,

And gather us from among the nations,

To give thanks unto thy holy name,

And to triumph in thy praise.

48 Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel,

From everlasting even to everlasting.

And let all the people say, Amen.

Praise ye Jehovah.
