Te Īnoi o te Tangata Pai

1 Whakawākia ahau, e Ihowā,

kua haere nei hoki ahau i te tapatahitanga o tōku ngākau;

kua whakawhirinaki anō ki a Ihowā, nā, e kore e paheke.

2 Tirohia iho ahau, e Ihowā, whakamātauria ahau,

kia kitea ōku whatumanawa me tōku ngākau.

3 Kei mua hoki tōu atawhai i ōku kanohi;

kua haere nei ahau i tōu pono.

4 Kāhore ahau i noho tahi ki ngā tāngata horihori;

e kore anō ahau e tomo tahi me ngā tāngata tinihanga.

5 Kino tonu ahau ki te whakaminenga o ngā kaimahi i te hē,

e kore anō ahau e noho tahi ki te hunga kino.

6 Ka horoia e ahau ōku ringa ki te harakore,

ka taiāwhio ai i tāu āta, e Ihowā;

7 ā, ka rangona tōku reo e whakamoemiti ana,

e whakapuaki ana i āu mahi whakamīharo katoa.

8 E Ihowā, kua aroha nei ahau ki tōu whare nohoanga,

ki te wāhi e nohoia ana e tōu korōria.

9 Kei huia tōku wairua ki roto ki te hunga hara,

me tōku ora ki roto ki te hunga toto.

10 He mahi nanakia hoki tā ō rātou ringa;

kī tonu ō rātou matau i te utu whakapati.

11 Ko ahau ia, ka haere i runga i tōku tapatahi;

hokona ahau, tohungia hoki ahau.

12 E tū ana tōku waewae i te wāhi tika;

ka whakapaingia a Ihowā e ahau i roto i ngā whakaminenga.

A Psalm of David.

1 Judge me, O Jehovah, for I have walked in mine integrity:

I have trusted also in Jehovah without wavering.

2 Examine me, O Jehovah, and prove me;

Try my heart and my mind.

3 For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes;

And I have walked in thy truth.

4 I have not sat with men of falsehood;

Neither will I go in with dissemblers.

5 I hate the assembly of evil-doers,

And will not sit with the wicked.

6 I will wash my hands in innocency:

So will I compass thine altar, O Jehovah;

7 That I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard,

And tell of all thy wondrous works.

8 Jehovah, I love the habitation of thy house,

And the place where thy glory dwelleth.

9 Gather not my soul with sinners,

Nor my life with men of blood;

10 In whose hands is wickedness,

And their right hand is full of bribes.

11 But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity:

Redeem me, and be merciful unto me.

12 My foot standeth in an even place:

In the congregations will I bless Jehovah.
