2 E whakatakoto ana tōu arero i ngā mea nanakia,
e mahi hīanga ana, ānō he heu koi.
3 E arohaina rawatia ana e koe te kino i te pai,
te teka i te kōrero tika. Hera
4 E te arero hīanga,
e arohaina ana e koe ngā kupu horomiti katoa.
5 Ka whakangaro hoki te Atua i a koe ake tonu atu;
ka tangohia atu koe e ia, ka tākiritia atu i tōu nohoanga,
ka hūtia atu hoki koe i te whenua o te ora. Hera
6 E kite hoki te hunga tika, ā, ka wehi;
ka kata hoki ki a ia, ka mea,
7 "Inanā, ko te tangata tēnei
kīhai nei i waiho e ia te Atua hei kaha mōna;
otiia, whakawhirinaki ana ki te tini o āna taonga,
whakapakari ana i runga i tāna mahi kino."
8 Ko ahau ia, e rite ana ki te ōriwa matomato i roto i te whare o te Atua;
ka whakawhirinaki ahau ki te mahi tohu a te Atua ake ake.
9 Ka whakamoemiti tonu ahau ki a koe, nāu hoki tēnei i mea;
ka tūmanako anō ki tōu ingoa;
he mea pai hoki, ki te aroaro o tāu hunga tapu.
For the Chief Musician. Maschil of David; when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.
1 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man?
The lovingkindness of God endureth continually.
2 Thy tongue deviseth very wickedness,
Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
3 Thou lovest evil more than good,
And lying rather than to speak righteousness. [Selah
4 Thou lovest all devouring words,
O thou deceitful tongue.
5 God will likewise destroy thee for ever;
He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent,
And root thee out of the land of the living. [Selah
6 The righteous also shall see it, and fear,
And shall laugh at him, saying,
7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength,
But trusted in the abundance of his riches,
And strengthened himself in his wickedness.
8 But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God:
I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever.
9 I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it;
And I will hope in thy name, for it is good, in the presence of thy saints.
