Te Kino o te Tangata me te Pai o te Atua
Ki te tino kaiwhakatangi. Nā te pononga a Ihowā, nā Rāwiri.
1 E mea ana te mahi kino a te tangata hara
i roto i tōku ngākau,
kāhore he wehi ki te Atua
i mua i ōna kanohi.
2 E whakapai ana hoki ōna kanohi ake ki a ia anō,
e kore e kitea tōna hara, e kore e kinongia.
3 He kino ngā kupu a tōna māngai, he rauhanga hoki,
kua mahue i a ia te mahara, te mahi i te pai.
4 He mahi nanakia tāna e whakaaro ai i runga i tōna moenga;
ehara i te pai te ara e tūria ana e ia,
kāhore ōna whakarihariha ki te kino.
5 Kei ngā rangi, e Ihowā, tāu mahi tohu;
tutuki noa atu tōu pono ki ngā kapua.
6 Rite tonu tōu tika ki ngā maunga o te Atua;
he rire nui āu whakaritenga;
ko koe, e Ihowā, te kaiwhakaora i te tangata, i te kararehe.
7 Anō te pai o tōu aroha, e te Atua;
ka okioki ngā tama a te tangata
i raro i te taumarumarutanga iho o ōu pākau.
8 Ka mākona rātou i ngā mea mōmona o tōu whare;
ka whakainumia anō e koe ki te awa o āu mea whakahari.
9 Kei a koe hoki te puna o te ora;
mā tōu mārama ka kite ai mātou i te mārama.
10 Kia roa tōu aroha ki te hunga e mātau ana ki a koe,
tōu tika hoki ki te hunga ngākau tika.
11 Kei puta mai ki ahau te waewae whakapakari;
kei āia atu ahau e te ringa o te hunga hara.
12 Hinga iho i reira ngā kaimahi i te kino;
kua turakina iho, tē āhei te ara ake.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of Jehovah.
1 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart,
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes,
That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:
He hath ceased to be wise and to do good.
4 He deviseth iniquity upon his bed;
He setteth himself in a way that is not good;
He abhorreth not evil.
5 Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens;
Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies.
6 Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Thy judgments are a great deep:
O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.
7 How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house;
And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
9 For with thee is the fountain of life:
In thy light shall we see light.
10 Oh continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee,
And thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen:
They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
