He Īnoi Whakawhirinaki

He Mikitama nā Rāwiri.

1 Tiakina ahau, e te Atua;

e whakawhirinaki nei hoki ahau ki a koe.

2 Kua mea ahau ki a Ihowā, "Ko koe tōku Ariki,

kāhore ōku pai i tua atu i a koe."

3 Ko te hunga tapu i runga i te whenua,

te hunga pai rawa, kua ahu katoa tōku āhuareka ki a rātou.

4 Ka whakanuia ngā mamae o te hunga e whakawhiti ana i a Ihowā mō tētahi atua kē;

e kore e ringihia e ahau ā rātou ringihanga toto,

e kore anō ō rātou ingoa e whakahuatia e ōku ngutu.

5 Ko Ihowā te wāhi i wehea mai mōku, tāku kapu hoki;

ko koe te kaiwhakapūmau i te wāhanga māku.

6 Kua takoto ōku aho ki ngā wāhi āhuareka,

inā, he wāhi pai tōku.

7 Ka whakapaingia e ahau a Ihowā, i whakamahara nei i ahau;

ka whakaako anō hoki ōku whatumanawa i ahau i te pō.

8 Kua waiho tonu e ahau a Ihowā ki tōku aroaro;

kei tōku ringa matau nei ia, e kore ahau e whakakorikoria.

9 Koia i koa ai tōku ngākau, i whakamanamana ai tōku korōria,

i takoto tūmanako ai anō ōku kikokiko.

10 Nō te mea e kore e waiho e koe tōku wairua i te rēinga,

e kore e tukua tāu Mea Tapu kia kite i te pirau.

11 Ka whakakitea mai e koe ki ahau te huarahi o te ora;

kei tōu aroaro te hari nui,

kei tōu matau ngā āhuareka e kore e mutu.

1 Preserve me, O God; for in thee do I take refuge.

2 O my soul, thou hast said unto Jehovah, Thou art my Lord:

I have no good beyond thee.

3 As for the saints that are in the earth,

They are the excellent in whom is all my delight.

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that give gifts for another god:

Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer,

Nor take their names upon my lips.

5 Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:

Thou maintainest my lot.

6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places;

Yea, I have a goodly heritage.

7 I will bless Jehovah, who hath given me counsel;

Yea, my heart instructeth me in the night seasons.

8 I have set Jehovah always before me:

Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth:

My flesh also shall dwell in safety.

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol;

Neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt show me the path of life:

In thy presence is fulness of joy;

In thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
