He Whakawhetai mō te Whakaoranga i te Māuiui

1 E aroha ana ahau ki a Ihowā;

mōna i whakarongo ki tōku reo, ki āku īnoi.

2 I tahuri mai tōna taringa ki ahau;

mō reira ka karanga ahau ki a ia i ahau e ora ana.

3 I karapotia ahau e ngā whakawiringa a te mate;

mau pū ahau i ngā mamae o te rēinga,

i kite ahau i te pāwera, i te pōuri.

4 Nā, ko tāku karangatanga ki te ingoa o Ihowā:

"Tēnā rā, e Ihowā, whakaorangia tōku wairua!"

5 He atawhai a Ihowā, he tika;

āe, he aroha tō tātou Atua.

6 E tiakina ana e Ihowā te hunga kūware;

i whakaititia ahau, ā, nāna ahau i whakaora.

7 E hoki, e tōku wairua, ki tōu okiokinga;

kua atawhaitia hoki koe e Ihowā.

8 Nāu hoki tōku wairua i whakaora kei mate,

ōku kanohi kei whai roimata,

ōku waewae kei paheke.

9 Tērā ahau e hāereere i te aroaro o Ihowā

i te whenua o te ora.

10 I whakapono ahau, koia ahau i kōrero ai;

"He nui tōku whakawhiunga."

11 I mea ahau i tōku ohoreretanga,

"He teka kau ngā tāngata katoa."

12 He aha tāku e whakahoki ai ki a Ihowā

mō āna atawhainga katoa i ahau?

13 Ka mau ahau ki te kapu o te whakaoranga,

ka karanga ki te ingoa o Ihowā.

14 Ka whakamanā e ahau āku kupu taurangi ki a Ihowā

i te aroaro o tāna iwi katoa.

15 He mea utu nui ki tā Ihowā titiro

te matenga o tāna hunga tapu.

16 E Ihowā, he pono ko ahau tāu pononga;

ko ahau tāu pononga, ko te tama a tāu pononga wahine;

nāu i wewete ōku here.

17 Ka tukua e ahau te patunga tapu, arā te whakawhetai;

ka karanga ki te ingoa o Ihowā.

18 Ka whakamanā e ahau āku kupu taurangi ki a Ihowā,

āe, ki te aroaro o tāna iwi katoa,

19 ki ngā marae o te whare o Ihowā,

ki waenganui ōu, e Hiruhārama.

Whakamoemititia a Ihowā!

1 I love Jehovah, because he heareth

My voice and my supplications.

2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me,

Therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

3 The cords of death compassed me,

And the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me:

I found trouble and sorrow.

4 Then called I upon the name of Jehovah:

O Jehovah, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

5 Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous;

Yea, our God is merciful.

6 Jehovah preserveth the simple:

I was brought low, and he saved me.

7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul;

For Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death,

Mine eyes from tears,

And my feet from falling.

9 I will walk before Jehovah

In the land of the living.

10 I believe, for I will speak:

I was greatly afflicted:

11 I said in my haste,

All men are liars.

12 What shall I render unto Jehovah

For all his benefits toward me?

13 I will take the cup of salvation,

And call upon the name of Jehovah.

14 I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,

Yea, in the presence of all his people.

15 Precious in the sight of Jehovah

Is the death of his saints.

16 O Jehovah, truly I am thy servant:

I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid;

Thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving,

And will call upon the name of Jehovah.

18 I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,

Yea, in the presence of all his people,

19 In the courts of Jehovah’s house,

In the midst of thee, O Jerusalem.

Praise ye Jehovah.
