He Whakamoemiti mō te Whakaoranga

Nā Rāwiri, i tōna āhua i rerekē rā i te aroaro o Apīmereke; nā peia ana ia, ā, haere ana.

1 Ka whakapaingia e ahau a Ihowā i ngā wā katoa;

he whakamoemiti tonu tā tōku māngai ki a ia.

2 Ka whakamanamana tōku wairua ki a Ihowā;

ka rongo te hunga māhaki, ā, ka hari.

3 Kia whakanui tahi tātou i a Ihowā,

kia whakateitei tahi hoki i tōna ingoa.

4 I rapu ahau i a Ihowā, ā, rongo mai ana ia ki ahau,

whakaorangia ana ahau e ia i ōku wehi katoa.

5 I titiro rātou ki a ia, ā, kua mārama;

ā, kāhore rawa he whakamā o ō rātou mata.

6 I karanga tēnei tangata iti, ā, whakarongo ana a Ihowā,

whakaora ana i a ia i ōna whakapāwera katoa.

7 E noho ana te anahera a Ihowā i tētahi taha, i tētahi taha,

o te hunga e wehi ana i a ia, ā, e whakaora ana i a rātou.

8 Whakamātauria, kia kite ai koutou i te pai o Ihowā;

ka hari te tangata e whakawhirinaki ana ki a ia.

9 Kia wehi ki a Ihowā, e tōna hunga tapu;

e kore hoki e hapa ngā tāngata e wehi ana i a ia.

10 E hapa ana ngā kūao raiona, e mate ana i te kai;

ko te hunga ia e rapu ana ki a Ihowā,

e kore e hapa i tētahi mea pai.

11 Haere mai, e ngā tamariki, whakarongo ki ahau;

māku koutou e ako kia wehi ki a Ihowā.

12 Ko wai te tangata e hiahia ana ki te ora,

e whai ana kia maha ngā rā, kia kite i te pai?

13 Tiakina tōu arero kei kino,

ōu ngutu kei kōrero hīanga.

14 Mawehe atu i te kino, mahia te pai;

rapua te āta noho, whāia hoki.

17 I karanga te hunga tika, ā, i whakarongo a Ihowā,

whakaorangia ana rātou e ia i ō rātou whakapāwera katoa.

18 E tata ana a Ihowā ki te hunga ngākau marū;

ka whakaorangia anō e ia te hunga wairua iro.

19 He tini ngā mate o te tangata tika;

20 E tiakina ana e ia ōna wheua katoa;

e kore tētahi e whati.

21 Ka mate i te kino te tangata hara,

ā, ka hē te hunga e kino ana ki te tangata tika.

22 E hokona ana e Ihowā te wairua o āna pononga;

e kore anō e hē tētahi o te hunga e whakawhirinaki ana ki a ia.

A Psalm of David; when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.

1 I will bless Jehovah at all times:

His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make her boast in Jehovah:

The meek shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3 Oh magnify Jehovah with me,

And let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought Jehovah, and he answered me,

And delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked unto him, and were radiant;

And their faces shall never be confounded.

6 This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard him,

And saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him,

And delivereth them.

8 Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good:

Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him.

9 Oh fear Jehovah, ye his saints;

For there is no want to them that fear him.

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger;

But they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good thing.

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me:

I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.

12 What man is he that desireth life,

And loveth many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep thy tongue from evil,

And thy lips from speaking guile.

14 Depart from evil, and do good;

Seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous,

And his ears are open unto their cry.

16 The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil,

To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cried, and Jehovah heard,

And delivered them out of all their troubles.

18 Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart,

And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous;

But Jehovah delivereth him out of them all.

20 He keepeth all his bones:

Not one of them is broken.

21 Evil shall slay the wicked;

And they that hate the righteous shall be condemned.

22 Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants;

And none of them that take refuge in him shall be condemned.
