Salmos 45

He Waiata Mārena mō te Kīngi

Ki te tino kaiwhakatangi. He Hohanimi mā ngā tama a Koraha. He Makiri, he waiata aroha.

1 E pupuke ake ana te mea pai i roto i tōku ngākau;

ka kōrerotia e ahau āku i tito ai mō te kīngi;

he pene tōku arero nā te kaituhituhi hohoro.

2 Engari koe he ātaahua i ngā tama a te tangata;

kua ringihia ōu ngutu ki te āhuareka;

nā reira i manaakitia ai koe e te Atua ake ake.

3 Whītikiria tāu hoari ki tōu hūwhā, e te Nui Rawa,

tōu korōria me tōu hōnore.

4 Aratakina hoki tōu hōiho i runga i tōu hōnore, i te kaha,

hei mea hoki mō te pono, mō te māhaki, mō te tika,

ā, mā tōu matau koe e whakaako ki ngā mea whakamataku.

5 He koi āu pere; ka hinga ngā iwi ki raro i a koe;

kei roto rātou i te ngākau o ngā hoariri o te kīngi.

6 He pūmau, e te Atua, tōu torōna ake ake;

he hēpeta tika te hēpeta o tōu kīngitanga.

7 Kua aroha koe ki te tika, kua kino ki te hara;

nā reira, nui atu i tō ōu hoa te whakawahinga a te Atua,

a tōu Atua i a koe ki te hinu o te hari.

8 Ko tōu kākahu katoa he kakara maira, he aroe, he kahia.

Ko ngā mea aho, whakatangitangi o ngā whare rei

nāna koe i whakaahuareka.

9 Kei roto i āu wāhine hōnore ngā tamāhine kīngi;

kei tōu matau te kuīni e tū ana, nō Ōpira te kōura.

10 Whakarongo, e kō, titiro, tahuri iho tōu taringa;

ā, kia wareware koe ki tōu iwi, ki te whare anō o tōu pāpā.

11 Pēnei ka matenuitia e te kīngi tōu ātaahua;

ko ia hoki tōu Ariki; ā, me koropiko ki a ia.

12 Ko reira anō te tamāhine o Tāira me te ohaoha;

ka whai anō ngā tāngata taonga o te iwi kia manakohia e koe.

13 Kei roto te tamāhine a te kīngi, he korōria kau,

he mea whakairo ki te kōura tōna kākahu.

14 He mea whakapaipai ki te ngira tōna kākahu e kawea ai ia ki te kīngi;

ka ārahina ki a koe ngā wāhina,

ōna takahoa e whai ana i a ia.

15 He hari, he koa ina kawea mai rātou;

ka tomo ki te whare o te kīngi.

16 Ko āu tamariki hei whakakapi mō ōu mātua;

ka meinga anō rātou e koe hei kāwana mō te whenua katoa.

17 Ka meinga e ahau tōu ingoa kia maharatia e ngā whakatupuranga katoa;

e whakamoemititia ai koe e ngā iwi ā ake ake.

1 My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter;

I speak the things which I have made touching the king:

My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

2 Thou art fairer than the children of men;

Grace is poured into thy lips:

Therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O mighty one,

Thy glory and thy majesty.

4 And in thy majesty ride on prosperously,

Because of truth and meekness and righteousness:

And thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

5 Thine arrows are sharp;

The peoples fall under thee;

They are in the heart of the king’s enemies.

6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:

A sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

7 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness:

Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee

With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia;

Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.

9 Kings’ daughters are among thy honorable women:

At thy right hand doth stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

10 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear;

Forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house:

11 So will the king desire thy beauty;

For he is thy lord; and reverence thou him.

12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift;

The rich among the people shall entreat thy favor.

13 The king’s daughter within the palace is all glorious:

Her clothing is inwrought with gold.

14 She shall be led unto the king in broidered work:

The virgins her companions that follow her

Shall be brought unto thee.

15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be led:

They shall enter into the king’s palace.

16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children,

Whom thou shalt make princes in all the earth.

17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations:

Therefore shall the peoples give thee thanks for ever and ever.
