He Īnoi a tētahi Koroheke

1 Ko koe tāku e whakawhirinaki ai, e Ihowā;

kei whakamā ahau ake ake.

2 Whakaorangia ahau, i runga i tōu tika, kia mawhiti anō ahau;

tahuri mai tōu taringa ki ahau, whakaorangia hoki ahau.

3 Kia ai koe hei teko e noho ai ahau,

hei hokihokinga tonutanga atu mōku;

kua kīia iho ahau e koe kia whakaorangia,

ko koe nei hoki tōku kōhatu, tōku pourewa.

4 Whakaorangia ahau, e tōku Atua, i te ringa o te tangata kino,

i te ringa o te whanokē, o te nanakia.

5 Ko koe nei hoki, e te Ariki, e Ihowā, tāku e tūmanako atu nei,

tāku e whakawhirinaki nei nō tōku tamarikitanga ake anō.

6 Nāu ahau i tautoko ake nō te kōpū mai anō;

nāu ahau i tango mai i roto i ngā whēkau o tōku whaea.

Ko koe tāku e whakamoemiti tonu ai.

7 He mīharotanga ahau nā te tini;

ko koe ia tōku piringa kaha.

8 Kia kī tōku māngai i te whakamoemiti ki a koe,

i tōu hōnore i te roa o te rā.

9 Kaua ahau e pangā ā te wā o te koroheketanga,

kaua ahau e whakarērea ina hemo tōku kaha.

10 E kōrerotia ana hoki ahau e ōku hoariri,

ā, e rūnanga tahi ana te hunga e whanga ana ki tōku wairua.

11 E mea ana, "Kua whakarērea ia e te Atua;

whāia, hopukia;

kāhore hoki tētahi hei whakaora."

12 E te Atua, kei matara atu koe i ahau;

e tōku Atua, hohoro ki te āwhina i ahau.

13 Kia whakamā, kia pau ngā hoariri o tōku wairua;

kia hīpokina ki te tāwai, ki te whakamā,

te hunga e rapu ana i te hē mōku.

14 Ko ahau ia, ka tūmanako tonu;

ka hono tonu anō te whakamoemiti ki a koe.

15 Mā tōku māngai e whakakite tōu tika,

tāu whakaoranga i te roa o te rā;

kāhore hoki ahau e mōhio e hia rānei.

16 Ka haere ahau i runga i te kaha o te Ariki,

o Ihowā, ka whakahuatia e ahau tōu tika, tōu anake.

17 E te Atua, he mea whakaako ahau nāu, nō tōku tamarikitanga ake;

ā, he whakapuaki tāku i āu mahi whakamīharo ā mohoa noa nei.

18 Nā, kaua ahau e whakarērea, e te Atua,

ā koroheke noa, hina noa ahau,

kia whakakitea rā anō e ahau tōu kaha ki tēnei whakatupuranga,

tōu nui ki ngā tāngata katoa e puta mai ā mua.

19 Kei runga rawa anō tōu tika, e te Atua,

he nui nei hoki āu mahi;

e te Atua, ko wai te rite ki a koe?

20 He nui, he kino ngā pōuritanga ngākau i whakakitea mai e koe ki a mātou;

tērā anō koe ka whakahauora i a mātou,

ka whakahoki ake anō i a mātou i ngā wāhi hōhonu o te whenua.

21 Whakaraneatia e koe tōku nui,

ā, tahuri mai anō ka whakamārie i ahau.

22 Ka whakamoemiti ahau ki a koe i runga i te hātere,

arā ki tōu pono, e tōku Atua;

ka hīmene ahau ki a koe i runga i te hāpa,

e te Mea Tapu o Īharaira.

23 Ka tino hari ōku ngutu ua hīmene ahau ki a koe;

me tōku wairua anō i hokona nei e koe.

24 Ka kōrerotia hoki e tōku arero tōu tika i te roa o te rā;

kua whakamā nei hoki,

kua numinumi kau te hunga i rapu i te hē mōku.

1 In thee, O Jehovah, do I take refuge:

Let me never be put to shame.

2 Deliver me in thy righteousness, and rescue me:

Bow down thine ear unto me, and save me.

3 Be thou to me a rock of habitation, whereunto I may continually resort:

Thou hast given commandment to save me;

For thou art my rock and my fortress.

4 Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked,

Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

5 For thou art my hope, O Lord Jehovah:

Thou art my trust from my youth.

6 By thee have I been holden up from the womb;

Thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels:

My praise shall be continually of thee.

7 I am as a wonder unto many;

But thou art my strong refuge.

8 My mouth shall be filled with thy praise,

And with thy honor all the day.

9 Cast me not off in the time of old age;

Forsake me not when my strength faileth.

10 For mine enemies speak concerning me;

And they that watch for my soul take counsel together,

11 Saying, God hath forsaken him:

Pursue and take him; for there is none to deliver.

12 O God, be not far from me;

O my God, make haste to help me.

13 Let them be put to shame and consumed that are adversaries to my soul;

Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor that seek my hurt.

14 But I will hope continually,

And will praise thee yet more and more.

15 My mouth shall tell of thy righteousness,

And of thy salvation all the day;

For I know not the numbers thereof.

16 I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord Jehovah:

I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth;

And hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

18 Yea, even when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not,

Until I have declared thy strength unto the next generation,

Thy might to every one that is to come.

19 Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high;

Thou who hast done great things, O God, who is like unto thee?

20 Thou, who hast showed us many and sore troubles,

Wilt quicken us again,

And wilt bring us up again from the depths of the earth.

21 Increase thou my greatness,

And turn again and comfort me.

22 I will also praise thee with the psaltery,

Even thy truth, O my God:

Unto thee will I sing praises with the harp,

O thou Holy One of Israel.

23 My lips shall shout for joy when I sing praises unto thee;

And my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long;

For they are put to shame, for they are confounded, that seek my hurt.
